John Parker founded Taconic Maintenance in the Hudson Valley, NY in 1994 with a straightforward goal: deliver better results for the municipalities and contractors who depend on reliable winter road treatment. What started as a regional snow and ice management operation became the origin story of one of the industry's most trusted de-icing formulas.
After years of working with conventional rock salt and watching it fail in cold temperatures, bounce off pavement, and damage the surfaces it was meant to protect, John set out to develop something better. The result was the original Magic formula — a Magnesium Chloride-based liquid enhanced with a proprietary agricultural byproduct that dramatically outperformed anything else on the market.
Today, John personally supports every dealer and contractor account. No call centers, no layers — just direct access to the person who built the product and has been refining it for three decades.
